Automated BMD/DATEV export: no more manual exporting

Automated BMD/DATEV export: no more manual exporting

Working with your tax advisory firm depends on a regular, complete exchange of data. If invoices or contacts are handed over irregularly or late, duplicate entries quickly arise – or worse, gaps that only come to light when the annual financial statements are prepared. 1Tool tackles exactly this problem with a one-click export in BMD or DATEV format and an automatic feature that suggests the start date of the next export on its own.

One-click export for invoices and contacts

BMD and DATEV are the two most widely used formats for exchanging data with tax advisory firms in Austria and Germany. Instead of preparing invoice data manually or converting it into an intermediate format, you export invoices directly from 1Tool in a single click in the format your firm requires. Contacts can also be exported separately in the same format – for example when master data of new or changed customers needs to be passed on to the firm.

An automatically pre-filled start date prevents gaps

A special feature of the export dialog: the “From” date is not set to a fixed default date but is pre-filled automatically based on the next scheduled DATEV export. To do this, 1Tool remembers for each tenant when the last export took place – separately for invoices and for contacts. When you open the export dialog again, the system suggests exactly the period that has not yet been exported since the last handover. This points to a recurring, scheduled workflow rather than an occasional ad hoc function: the export becomes a fixed, reliable part of your monthly or periodic accounting routine.

Why a regular export is more than just convenience

Anyone who schedules the export of accounting data manually has to rely on their own memory or a separate calendar note about which period was last handed over. Especially with several tenants or changing responsibilities in the team, this increases the risk that a period is accidentally exported twice – leading to queries from the firm – or that a period is overlooked entirely, which in the worst case only becomes apparent at year-end closing. Because 1Tool suggests the start date automatically, this risk is reduced structurally, regardless of who actually carries out the export in a given month.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between BMD and DATEV?
Both are established formats for exchanging data with tax advisory firms – BMD is used mainly in Austria, DATEV mainly in Germany. 1Tool supports both formats for export. How does 1Tool prevent duplicate or missing export periods?
1Tool remembers for each tenant when the last export took place – separately for invoices and contacts – and automatically pre-fills the “From” date in the export dialog based on the next scheduled export. Can I export both invoices and contacts?
Yes, invoices and contacts are exported separately, each in BMD or DATEV format. Would you like to automate the export for your tax advisor instead of keeping track of periods manually?
