Plan project dates in a Gantt chart and move them with the mouse

Project plans change constantly: tasks shift, deadlines are adjusted, new dependencies arise. If you maintain project dates only through lists or individual form entries, you easily lose track of how changes affect the overall plan. A visual timeline on which tasks can be moved directly, without detouring through an edit form, makes project planning far more immediate. In 1Tool, every project has its own Gantt view for this purpose.

A dedicated Gantt view for each project

Every project in 1Tool has its own Gantt view of its tasks. All tasks of a project are shown there as bars along a timeline, so you can see at a glance which tasks are planned simultaneously, one after another or overlapping. This is particularly helpful for projects with many tasks and several people involved, since a pure list view hardly gives a reliable impression of the overall schedule in such cases. Because the Gantt view is part of the respective project in 1Tool, no additional software has to be maintained and no separate data set has to be kept in sync. Project managers therefore always see the current planning status without having to switch between different tools.

Move dates by drag and drop

The start and end date of a task, including the deadline, can be changed directly by dragging the corresponding bars in the Gantt view. Instead of opening an edit form, entering a new date and confirming the change, you simply drag the task's bar to the desired position on the timeline. The change is applied automatically, without an extra click to save. This direct way of editing is particularly useful when several dates within a project shift at short notice, for example because a preceding task takes longer than planned. The plan can thus be adjusted quickly, without a separate editing step for every single change.

The timeline adapts automatically

The timeline shown, with a daily, weekly or monthly grid, is calculated dynamically from the actual tasks of the respective project. It therefore does not have to be set manually, but adapts automatically to the period over which the project's tasks extend. For a short project with few tasks, this results in a compact, easy-to-read display, while for long-running projects with many tasks the timeline adjusts accordingly. Project managers do not have to worry about setting up the right view and can concentrate on the actual planning.

Frequently asked questions

Is there one Gantt view for all projects or one per project? Every project in 1Tool has its own Gantt view, which shows only the tasks of that project. Do I have to save after moving a date? No, changes to the start and end date made by dragging are applied automatically; no extra click to save is needed. Can I choose between a daily, weekly and monthly grid? The timeline is calculated dynamically from the project's actual tasks and does not have to be set manually.
